Join our dynamic and friendly nursing teams on our 25 bedded dynamic unit: Great Western ward. You’ll build up your confidence and experience as you support in the care for patients that range from neonates to adulthood. Great western ward looks after a wide range of patients being admitted from the emergency department as well as paediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care units at St Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea hospitals. You’ll be able to develop your clinical skills to look after these acute admissions ranging from the complex needs patient to the acute trauma admission.
Our teams have excellent inter-professional working relationships with services for children including critical care, emergency department, community nursing teams and the ambulatory care unit.
Undertake a career pathway of training and education that is individually developed for you and supported by our clinical nurse educators who often work alongside you on the ward. There are many opportunities for development such as: leadership programmes, diabetes specialist course and PILS amongst many others.
To work alongside the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in the management of children and families with general paediatric conditions.
Provide high quality and evidence based after-care and ensure patients and family are well supported prior to discharge.
Support management of ward and ensure the unit is run in line with national safety guidelines.
The post holder will support junior members of the team and student nurses to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and provide support as needed.
To offer an individual service and psychological support to patients and their families respecting their diverse backgrounds.
Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the MDT.
To work across hospital where this is indicated and as the needs of the service change.
