Job description

The Stage department is made up of 3 teams of technicians based in the 3 theatre spaces (Olivier, Lyttleton, Dorfman) and are led by the Stage Supervisors. Stage Technicians are responsible for handling all scenic and prop elements of productions whilst in the theatres, on the stages and in the repertoire.

The day to day work of the Stage department includes fit-ups, rehearsals, performances, changeovers in repertoire, and maintenance of the theatre and its infrastructure.

Based within the Stage department, with an expertise in rigging, this role works to support stage work and lifting operations in support of theatre performances, production, rehearsals and other events in all three venues, rehearsal rooms and other NT spaces as required.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Technical operational experience in large-scale repertory or touring theatre.
  • A working knowledge of current health and safety legislation including the HSWA, LOLER, and the Working at Height Regulations.
  • Industry-recognised certificates in rigging, stagecraft, and safety.
  • Training and experience in working at height and the use of work positioning and fall arrest equipment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
