Overall objective
- The company’s product is the manufacture & installation of structural, secondary steelwork and architectural metalwork. All applicants must have extensive knowledge of the construction industry producing fabricated work such as handrailing, balustrading, staircases, cat ladders and structural steel.
- To fabricate and weld stainless to a high degree of accuracy to detailed fabrication drawings which may include site installation. Combining the full welding experience to achieve required welder approvals BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017
- Working to the general fabrication tolerance & BS EN 1090-1 standards.
Duties (specific tasks)
- To perform the tasks requested of them by the company management team.
- To act in a responsible and safe manner at all times with regard to Health and Safety issues such as manual handling, CoSHH, always wearing All PPE including eye and hearing protection as required.
- To follow rules and procedures set out in the contract of employment, company handbook and company health and safety policy and adhere to risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- To operate all machinery in a safe manner so as not to put yourself or others at risk.
- Have experience using various engineering machinery
- General operations and an understanding of all aspects of fabricating and metalwork process including marking out for cutting, tube bending, shaping, drilling & polishing, working with mild & Stainless Steel.
- Carry out checks on your own and other fabricators / colleagues work, making sure the product has been fabricated to high standard and that the product is despatch correctly first time.
- Level 3 Welding qualifications which must be capable of Mig & Tig welding to procedures of BS EN (phone number removed):2004 to high standard.
- Inspect welds and ensure standards are maintained throughout the fabrication & welding processes.
- Must be capable of understanding and interpret drawings & reading all weld symbols on drawings.
- Read and understand the contents of relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- To work overtime when necessary to ensure that delivery dates can be met & working to deadlines.
- Experience in installing balustrading and handrailing on construction sites preferred, but not essential as you would install the works you have produced under supervision of a lead site engineer.
