Role
The HVDC projects are multi Billion projects that are being jointly managed by SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).
The projects will unlock the rich renewable energy capacity of Scotland and support our drive toward our Net Zero targets in Scotland and across the rest of the UK.
The availability and source of renewable energy generated is constantly changing, therefore our network needs to be able to balance this through increased interconnection. This increased interconnection will guarantee Scotland's security of energy supply and making the transition to net zero by 2050 is expected to generate 60,000 jobs across the energy sector.
To enable us to deliver this project, we need to build new substations, converter stations and lay underground and marine cables on each project.
The Customer Engagement Manager is crucial for the success delivery of HVDC projects leading internal and external stakeholders engagement and communication to manage conflicts, recognise opportunities to enhance the project image provide direction, and provide positive communication both internally and externally across the whole HVDC portfolio.
What you will be doing
Stakeholder and communications lead for the Eastern Link 1 & 4 Projects - Strategic Projects which are key to delivering UK and Scotland's net zero and climate change commitments
Collaboration with NGET Stakeholder and communications team to develop and deliver an integrated Stakeholder engagement plan, project brand and ethos
Responsible for all SP Eastern Link 1 & 4 stakeholder engagement and communications strategy development and delivery - including both traditional media and digital channels, events, and all relevant opportunities to maximise positive perceptions of the company amongst key stakeholder groups.
Requirement to report on engagement with stakeholders, and to suggest, develop and implement innovative approaches throughout - ensuring knowledge sharing across the industry and that our best practices are cascaded.
Work closely with Eastern Link Senior Leadership teams, Project Directors and wider SPT and NGET HVDC project teams to provide expert communications support for the delivery of the HVDC projects.
Assisting in the development of the Eastern Link management team communications skills and media performance
Development and roll out of project branding
What you will bring
Experience working in a marketing and communications environment, developing strategy level materials using multimedia channels of delivery.
Experience in taking complex subjects and communicating them effectively at all levels.
Ability to plan and organise the delivery of an external and business wide communication plan, ensuring that the overall plan maintains momentum and achieves objectives.
Excellent leadership, communication and inter-personal skills in order to motivate and influence managers and staff at all levels. Ability to influence and motivate teams to deliver communication interventions.
Detailed knowledge of communication and marketing tools and techniques and their practical implementation - use of latest technology and multimedia channels.
Proven ability to lead and manage the delivery of communication interventions across a large and complex organisation.
Experience of publication, writing of successful marketing material and business writing
Ability to make progress in an ambiguous environment, where priorities and deadlines can shift
Ability to accommodate travel and overnight stays on a semi-regular basis or as required by the role.
Preferably qualified to degree level or equivalent
Understanding of UK utilities market or similar regulatory environment would be beneficial
Minimum Requirements
Professional qualification in communication/marketing and or experience
Professional qualification in Business and / or experience
Excellent stakeholder engagement and Customer management skills demonstrated in previous role
Proven experience in a comparable managerial role
Computer literacy
