About Us:
As a Steel Shop Supervisor , you will oversee a designated supervisory area within our production facility or a production support area, managing a diverse range of tasks with a high level of complexity. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of commercial employees, ensuring adherence to quality, efficiency, and deadline requirements, while also addressing safety, health, and environmental protection concerns. Additionally, you will be instrumental in initiating and driving continuous improvement processes within your area of responsibility.

Position Overview:
As a Steel Shop Supervisor at Liebherr Sunderland, you will play a crucial role in overseeing a supervisory area in production or a production support area, managing tasks of varying complexity. You will lead a team of skilled employees, ensuring adherence to quality, efficiency, and deadline requirements. Additionally, you will champion safety, health, and environmental protection practices while driving continuous improvement initiatives within your area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of commercial employees, ensuring tasks are assigned effectively and in alignment with requirements. Provide instruction, technical guidance, and monitor production progress.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure adequate resources (personnel, equipment, materials, information) are available as needed. Develop solutions for resource discrepancies and oversee their implementation.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that work assignments meet quality standards and adhere to technological specifications and quality control plans. Analyze discrepancies, develop preventive measures, and implement them with the team.
  • Profitability Optimization: Meet key performance indicators specific to the designated area. Analyze discrepancies, develop remedial measures, and monitor their implementation.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure adherence to production schedule milestones. Develop solutions for delays, discuss with management, and implement corrective actions with the team.
  • Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection: Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and propose risk reduction measures. Develop solutions for discrepancies and ensure adherence to operating instructions. Maintain work equipment in suitable condition.
  • Continuous Improvement Process: Initiate activities to improve resources, quality, efficiency, timeliness, safety, health, environmental protection, and energy management. Implement improvement initiatives with the team.
  • Employee Development: Provide technical guidance, conduct performance appraisals, and offer regular training on HSE issues. Ensure adherence to rules and regulations through disciplinary procedures if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Several years of professional experience in the field of welding, experience in managing staff and teams
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Vocational training in the subject area.
