Contract: Permanent – 35 hours per week
Salary: £19,000 - £20,000
Location: Southampton

We’re recruiting a Stock Collection & Distribution Driver based from our new Retail Hub in Southampton to cover 8 of our existing shops based in the south and more opening in the future!
We have over 50 retail shops across England and Wales split, into four geographical areas.
Our shops provide a vital income stream enabling us to support sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.

More about the role

As our new Stock Collection & Distribution Driver, you will be making a huge contribution to increase the profitability of our Blue Cross shops through the generation, collection, distribution, and transfer of stock. You will do this by:
  • Liaising with shops on a regular basis to ensure their stock requirements are met.
  • Carrying out the collection and transfer of stock between the shops delivering to the stock rooms
  • Responsibility for the clothing bank at Burford and distribute stock collected.
  • Planning and carrying out house collections when required
  • Carrying out all portable appliance testing (PAT) on electrical items in shops when required
  • Ensuring the van is kept clean and serviced as required and to ensure the security of the vehicle, equipment, and goods at all times.
  • Carrying out all administrative procedures required including written statistical reports on activity levels, records of journeys and mileage.
  • Adhering to current Health & Safety procedures and to follow safe lifting and loading practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate, understanding and apply our Blue Cross values.
Please note, internally this role is known as Stock Collector.
About you

You will definitely be a people person, with great communications skills and the ability to build relationships at both collection and delivery locations. You will thrive working as part of a great team.
You will have good written and attention to detail skills as you will be responsible for completing paperwork such as statistical reports on activity levels, records of journeys and mileage.
As a Stock Collection & Distribution Driver you will be travelling on a daily basis to collect and deliver stock throughout the region, you will therefore be be prepared to drive extensively. Some of our locations may require movement of furniture and navigating flights of stairs, therefore, you will be physically fit and able to lift and load donations into the van and to the shops.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
· Full UK driving licence
· Stamina and concentration when driving long distances
· Physically fit and active for this driver role due to the lifting and carrying of donation bags in and out of the vehicle.
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Punctuality and reliability
· Ability to demonstrate, understanding and apply our Blue Cross values
Although not essential, it would be great if you had:
· Experience of a driving-based role
· Awareness of PAT Testing
