Wales’s largest Farmer Co-operative, have an opportunity for a Stores Assistant to work at their Clynderwen site.
THE ROLE

This role involves Storeman duties in the warehouse (for which forklift training can be provided) and using their computer system to serve customers.
A full driving licence is required for this role due to the occasional small van deliveries.
General
- To ensure that the stores are opened on time and remain staffed during the hours required.
- To attend training courses as required and to identify additional training you feel you need which would contribute to improved overall performance of the branch.
- To undertake the necessary training needed to make sure that you comply with statutory/trade requirements to enable you to carry out your work.
- To ensure that customers are served promptly and courteously.
- To ensure that customer requests, queries and complaints are dealt with courteously and promptly, referring matters which cannot be dealt with by yourself to the Branch Manager.
- To advise the Branch Manager if there is inadequate stock at the Branch or if there is slow moving stock.
- To be responsible for stocktaking in the warehouse.
- To ensure that the warehouse/ branch is kept clean and tidy, and that stock is maintained in an orderly manner.
- To ensure that those goods which have to be on display are in place during the hours of opening.
- To ensure that stock is rotated, and the oldest stock is sold first.
- To liaise with the Branch Manager and ensure that stock is available to meet seasonal requirements.
- To ensure shrinkage, wastage and damage to stock items is minimised. Any damaged packages must be placed in the ‘segregation’ area within the warehouse, and the appropriate records completed.
- To ensure that the site is kept to the required UFAS standards.
- To support the Branch Manager and ensure that all documentation complies with the current UFAS Code of Practice.
- To be responsible for the forklift vehicle, to ensure that it is operated safely at all times and is maintained according to the manufacturer’s recommendations on a daily basis.
- To be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself, customers, and other staff members. To ensure that goods are stacked safely and that there are no obvious dangers within the warehouse.
- Ensure that customer’s vehicles, branch vehicles and forklift trucks do not constitute a danger to staff or customers.
- Report any deficiencies to the forklift and within the warehouse which could lead to an accident or incident to the Branch Manager.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with customers.
- Organized.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Capable of working at speed and precision.
- A proactive approach to work and problem solving.
- Able to lift heavy items, push trollies etc.
- Farming knowledge an advantage, as would the ability to speak Welsh.
- Basic IT skills an advantage.
