About the Role

Base Location: Slough Heat and Power Station

Salary: £31,339 - £35,892 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role holder reports to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and will provide stores management expertise and competence to deliver a high standard of work execution on stock maintenance, equipment, that ensures the safety, reliability, flexibility and efficiency of plant and equipment is maintained to meet the Company’s requirements.

A key member of the engineering team, the role holder is expected to make significant contributions to the delivery of the site maintenance and outage work scopes.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide the technical lead on all spares and consumables to continually improve the availability of spares and therefore the reliability of the power station by reducing return to service times of forced outages and ensuring that spares are available to progress all out-ages to plan
  • Working along with the Engineers, technicians, the supervisor, and operational staff to identify all spares required to support the preventative maintenance schedule in Maximo. Ensure that the spares are available when required to carry out the work.
  • In emergency conditions assist maintenance engineers and supervisors to specify, identify suppliers and liaise with suppliers for quick turnaround on spares delivery.
  • Assist the Engineers to build the links between assets and spares in Maximo with a view to developing spares packs for automatic issue for planned work.
  • Provide input into the planning process for the weekly and outage work.
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure purchase orders are raised as required
  • Following SSE procedures add new suppliers to the system as and when required

  • Has a detailed understanding of the procedures or regulations applicable to the role.
  • Actively promotes environmental management
  • Responsible for Safety within areas of control and actively promotes good safety management.
  • Understands the interfaces with other teams and works actively to ensure these are effective.
  • Compliance with legislation/ regulatory issues are managed effectively
  • Compliance with COSHH Regulations for all spares and consumables
