The Role
As a Strategic Buyer, you will have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock delivers critical and vital aviation services to the civil and defence sectors with unrivalled expertise. Day to day, you will lead commercial reviews, build supplier relationships, drive cost savings and manage supply chain risk. You will also be responsible for ensuring contracts are maintained, Business Reviews take place, Building Supplier Relationships, Creating Mini Commodity Strategies and ensuring prices and contracts are negotiated.
- Create sourcing strategy with vendors to maximise value for Babcock Aviation. Aiming to improve payment terms, warranty, risk and controlling cost.
- Hold regular reviews with key vendors ensuring a positive relationship between the two parties. Focusing on delivery, cost, on-time payment and pricing disputes.
- Responsible for creating, negotiating and amending contracts for Parts and Services related to the respective Business Unit.
- To expedite Purchase Order expected delivery dates and update the order details as necessary to ensure that the requested delivery date is met where possible.
- Responsible for creating and running RFX's as required within the business system
This is a full-time permanent role 37-hours per week, following a hybrid working arrangement of two-three days a week working from home (following an initial period).
Essential experience of the Strategic Buyer
- Experience working within Supply Chain environment
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- MRO / ERP system experience is desirable
- Good written and communication skills; Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable negotiating
- Highly collaborative and able to work successfully as part of a team
- Able to cope with changing variables and remain comfortable
Qualifications for the Strategic Buyer
- Membership of a relevant professional body, e.g. the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at a Level Four or above is desirable
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
