Full time/37 hrs a week/12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Peterborough

We have an exciting opportunity for a professional who thrives in open and challenging working environments to join the team as a Strategic Cost Engineer for 12 months on a FTC.

The focus is ensuring that TOTEX (capital and operational costs) estimates are provide for all activities associated with providing water and water recycling services including customer benefits.

What you'll be doing:

- Manage the development of appropriate cost collection templates covering construction, operational costs and service failure impacts and ensure that this data is collected in a timely and effective manner

- Build a collaborative relationship with the service providers and your Anglian Water colleagues and apply the business processes needed to transparently capture robust costs and the associated attributes, in a timely manner across all delivery and business areas

- Liaise with service providers, finance and other Anglian Water teams to resolve data anomalies and identify opportunities for collaborative improvement of the data collection process

- Support the development/revision of Assets hierarchy to ensure that Anglian Water can accurately cost (construction, operational and service failure impacts) its entire asset base - Work alongside the SAP data team and the Performance and Standards team

- Support internal Benchmarking process and cost update for future estimation when applicable

- Develop and deliver training for users on how to analyse/use of cost models, ensuring that documentation is maintained

- Review, quality assurance and approved colleagues investment and alternatives estimates to ensure that the solutions are appropriately scoped, aligned to cost model definitions and business plan assumptions

- Analyse totex costs from proposed projects through the use of the estimating system and projects outputs and support the development of the investment plan

What does it take to be successful?

- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical area ( i.e. mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil engineering, quantity surveying, mathematics)

- Charter member or working towards appropriate professional body (i.e. RICS)

- Proven experience of estimating large programmes of work utilising cost models or equivalent estimation methodology

- Desirable experience of working on a regulated environment and "Price Review"

- Understanding of the infrastructure from a strategic, tactical and operational perspective

- Awareness of the impact of investment and operational decisions on infrastructure management

- Understanding of asset management capabilities and functions preferably within the water industry

- Understanding of computer systems , models and good knowledge of Microsoft packages

- Knowledge of cost collection structures and system coding

- Well developed stakeholder management skills - multiple stakeholders
