Job Title: Strategic People Lead - Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Job Location: UK Flexible Location, Hybrid Home and Office based
Salary: £75,000 per annum plus benefits, based on 35 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent

The role

You will operate as a key leader at the British Red Cross (BRC), driving forward the people agenda with the organisation. The role ensures that the experience of our people, be they staff or volunteers, is paramount – working with senior leaders to continue our people journey.


Challenging and encouraging decisions, utilising people data to spot trends and other insights, the role will steer the organisation, supporting the development of a fully safe and inclusive culture and helping to retain and grow our talent. Operating as a key member of the relevant Directorate Management Team and of the People senior team, you will bring together your people expertise with understanding of organisational needs, identifying opportunities and supporting the efficiency focus within People.


This role will manage the Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Wellbeing team, and be responsible for ensuring that the EDI strategy at BRC is underpinned by evidence-based initiatives. You will champion wellbeing as a priority, particularly during transformation and change. The EDI and wellbeing agenda is owned by the Executive Leadership Team, and this role will ensure that leaders have the tools they need to make real change happen, bringing forward the views of our Networks.


To be a successful Equity, Diversity & InclusionPeople Lead, you’ll need:

  • A passion for, and experience in, driving organisation change to achieve a safe and inclusive culture for all
  • Considerable experience in EDI, with knowledge of the full range of People services (Resourcing, Learning and Organisational Development, Employee Relations etc.)
  • Strong and proven team and line management skills, with ability to manage teams with broad remits in complex environments
  • Able to role model a high-level of management standards
  • Able to think strategically, bring vision and direction on a departmental scale with technical and operational influence
  • Data literacy and financial management skills
  • Considerable experience as a senior professional, or senior operational manager with extensive experience of working with HR professionals
  • Experience of working in a senior business partnering structure
  • Experience of leading, supervising and developing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Delivery of workforce planning to develop enabling work programmes
  • Managing complex organisational change
