Job Title: Strategic Procurement Manager 

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Alderley       

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

Closing date: 7th April 2024

 

This is a really exciting time to join a well-respected Procurement team who are helping to deliver Royal London’s strategic outcomes and ambitions across a number of major change programmes, driving the maximum commercial value from our partner relationships and new procurement opportunities. 

 

As a Strategic Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for the category leadership and management of a range of non-IT business and outsourced operational services. Working in partnership with business leaders, project teams and supplier managers from across our UK, Irish and Asset Management business units, you will collaborate to develop and implement efficient procurement strategies. You will also be responsible for creating new and innovative commercial supplier led models and opportunities that drive cost, risk and relationship value to the business. You will be the lead negotiator to multi-million-pound contracts and sourcing arrangements, commercial and contract negotiations, risk assessment and mitigation.

About the role

 

  • Be a trusted advisor and business partner to a number of Senior Leaders stakeholders from across the Group to understand their priorities and goals
  • Working in close partnership with the business and third parties to align category strategies to deliver on those priorities and goals
  • Drive and develop supplier relationships to unlock a deeper value, understanding supplier capability and building out mutually agreed long term plans
  • Negotiate and draft contract agreements to achieve the delivery of significant annual cost reduction and cost avoidance benefit
  • Leading and coordinating bids and sourcing activity
  • Implement robust procurement processes and controls
  • Identify opportunities and risks and ensure these are documented
  • On-going pro-active review of existing category arrangements

 

About you

 

  • Experience in total cost analysis / cost to serve analysis
  • Strategic mindset to join the dots and unlock greater value
  • Demonstrable experience across procurement and supplier management, preferably within the financial asset management and sector
  • Strong knowledge of commercial models and approaches/techniques necessary to achieve best in class procurement deals
  • Proven ability to achieve substantial cost benefit
  • Proven negotiation skills and comprehensive knowledge of contract law
