Job description

About the role:
Lead, design, develop and manage projects with strategic implications which evaluate needs, services and costs, and use the findings to inform strategies, plans and financial planning. Make recommendations and implementing future options around budget savings.
Drawing on significant expertise, lead on providing support to strategic leads (including Heads of service and directors) and operational leads on the business and budget planning process, including the development and review of service plan and strategies, scheme of delegation, coordination of Committee reports and DPRs, and consultation.
Be responsible for the service’s forward work plan, ensuring clear governance mechanisms are in place, and take decisions on the best processes to follow.
Provide high quality data analysis and make recommendations for change, ensuring insight informs strategy development, policy decisions and service improvement to enhance and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.

About you:
The post holder will display excellent judgment, political astuteness and have confidence in working closely with and advising senior officers. The ideal candidates will have:
Strong project management/research training or on the job experience supplemented with relevant training.
Extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of undertaking research and delivering highly valued and relevant reports and recommendations.
Proven experience and understanding of constructing well structured, clear and concise briefing papers and reports.
Highly skilled expert in the use of standard Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to analyse complex information quickly, reaching and articulating decisions with clarity, to deliver solutions that command support.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective professional working relationships and networks with stakeholders and use these relationships to improve the effectiveness of the service
About Family Services
The aim of the Family Service is to ensure that all children and young people in Barnet achieve the best possible outcomes and to enable them to become successful adults, especially our most vulnerable children. They should be supported by high quality, integrated and inclusive services that identify additional support needs early, are accessible, responsive and affordable for the individual child and their family.

Safeguarding our children through our multi-agency Barnet Children’s Safeguarding Board.
Looking after children who are in care.
Recruiting foster families and potential adoptive parents and placing children in their care.
Making sure that children in need of social care receive the support that they need.
Reducing Domestic Violence and working with perpetrators of Domestic Violence.
Working with Young Offenders and young people who are at risk of getting involved with crime or gangs to reduce youth crime.
Whole family approach to early intervention and prevention, strengthening links with voluntary sector organisations, especially where this ensures that youth and play activities are available.
