We have an opportunity for a Band 3 Assistant to join us, working alongside Dieticians and Speech and Language Therapists delivering support for people with communication and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties following stroke.
The right personal qualities and attributes are critical to this post: training and support will be provided to enhance your understanding of stroke and acquired communication and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
As well as working closely with the stroke MDT, you will also be part of the friendly and supportive Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy teams where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. There is excellent peer support.
If you have a passion for supporting people - working with them to empower and move forward following stroke – please get in touch. We are very happy to answer any questions you may have about this role and we welcome informal visits.
As a Stroke Therapy Assistant, the post holder will have specific responsibilities in carrying out delegated activities/therapy independently with selected Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy clients, working under regular supervision of Dietitians and Speech and Language Therapists, and supporting the Therapists with appropriate clerical and administrative duties.
The post holder will;

This will be implemented with regular supervision from qualified Dietitians and Speech and Language Therapists who hold the responsibility for assessment of need, development of therapy programmes, review of progress and safe discharge from the service.
  • Work as a member of the Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy team and multi-disciplinary teams liaising with and advising other agencies in relation to the specific client’s needs and service delivery, as delegated by qualified Dietitians and Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Hold a portfolio which will include the following areas of responsibility to ensure that governance (quality and safety) is fully integral to service provision across the Area.
