We are looking for a Structural Engineer with an enthusiasm for heritage and conservation to join our client who is based in Sevenoaks. You will play a critical role in preserving and restoring historical structures. You will provide your expertise on analysing, designing, and overseeing the structural aspects of major projects, ensuring long-term stability and integrity of heritage sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough site assessments and structural inspections to evaluate the condition and stability of heritage and historic buildings.
- Collaborating with architects, historians, and other professionals to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for structural repairs and restoration.
- Preparing detailed structural analysis, calculations, and reports to assess the integrity and load-bearing capacity of existing structures.
- Designing and drafting plans, specifications, and drawings for structural modifications and reinforcements while adhering to applicable building codes and preservation guidelines.
- Evaluating and recommending appropriate materials, techniques, and construction methodologies to preserve the historical and cultural significance of heritage structures.
- Coordinating and overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with design plans, safety standards, and preservation requirements.
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, preservation guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrable experience preparing structural designs in all conventional materials and experience in refurbishment projects.
- Proficiency in industry related software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla or similar.
