Job description

Student Services & Welfare Officer

Location: Barnet, North West London

Contract: Full time or part time contracts considered (term time only)

Salary: £16.50 to £20.50 per hour depending on experience

A reputable secondary school in Barnet is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Student Services & Welfare Officer. We are committed to providing exceptional support and care to our students, and we are looking for a candidate who shares our passion for promoting their well-being and welfare.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact within the Pupil Services office, addressing all student inquiries.
  • Performing general administrative duties, such as filing and distributing letters to classes.
  • Ensuring deliveries and medical supplies match the original orders.
  • Serving as the main first aider, providing prompt first aid to both students and staff during school hours.
  • Managing medication brought in by pupils, ensuring written permission is obtained prior to administration.
  • Maintaining up-to-date first aid certifications and participating in First Aid Training if necessary.
  • Keeping an Accident Book and informing the School Business Manager about incidents that may require reporting to the Health & Safety Executive.
  • Maintaining electronic records of visits to the medical room.
  • Contacting parents when pupils need to be collected due to illness.
  • Monitoring pupil EpiPens and inhalers, ensuring proper storage, labelling, and expiration dates.
  • Coordinating whole-school vaccination programs for pupils when required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for promoting the welfare and well-being of students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
  • First Aid qualifications (or willingness to undertake First Aid Training).
  • Familiarity with medical procedures and understanding of safeguarding practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
