- To manage a team of software developers, split into multiple SCRUM teams, to deliver academic software including an institution wide student records application.
- To proactively develop software applications, solutions and appropriate documentation using an agile product-based approach to applications development, including technical design and implementation and the management of delegated budgets
- To participate in wider leadership groups with program managers, business analyst leads and product owners to ensure the smooth delivery of academic software
- To manage the continuous delivery of software, allocating resource as appropriate within the SCRUM teams, dealing with any issues, and working with the product owner to ensure the appropriate allocation of resource
- Manage the quality and security of the products under development
- Be responsible for the welfare and staff management of the developers under your remit
- To proactively maintain the support and development of existing systems and services, including determining how support for existing and new products will be managed and resourced
- To be a champion for creative and new thinking and innovative working practices, sharing best practice and to keep abreast of industry and sector knowledge and insights
- To accept responsibility for the quality and functional performance of software applications and services.
- To work and liaise with external bodies on the specification, evaluation and acceptance of software
- To attend and report to internal and external meetings as directed, presenting the Division and University
- To perform such other duties, appropriate to the grade, as may be directed by the Director of Information Systems Services or nominated representative
