The Opportunity
We are looking for a Student Veterinary Nurse to join the team at Medivet Flitwick.
Our practice is renowned for its comprehensive and compassionate approach to veterinary care, we are well respected within the local community and even operate a pet food bank to help those in need. We see a wide variety of cases and procedures which will expand your knowledge and experience with the support of our dedicated team.
We are a RCVS accredited practice with an experienced branch partner who holds a certificate in small animal medicine, we are also an RCVS approved training centre for nursing, boasting an experienced nursing team.
We are in a spacious clinic with three purpose built consult rooms, separate cat and dog wards, large theatre and separate scrub room. Important to note is a comfortable separate staff room and kitchen, equip with coffee machine!
We are located just 10 minutes from junction 12 on the M1, and are within walking distance to Flitwick train station, from here there are direct links to central London within 40 minutes. There are local coffee shops and supermarkets.
This position provides you with the opportunity to develop nursing clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas.
This is a full time permanent position, covering 43 hours per week. You will also be part of a weekend rota, covering 1:5 half weekends.

Role Accountabilities
Exceptional care is at the heart of everything we do at Medivet. That’s the care for our patients, our clients and for each other – we really want to make a positive difference through every interaction we have.
In this role you will:
- Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
- Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
- Carry out nurse led appointments under direct clinical supervision.
- Deliver patient monitoring and care.
- Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
- Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
- Dispense and check medication under the guidance of the Veterinary team.
- Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
Your Skills and Experience
- It is essential that you are enrolled as an SVN with the RCVS and registered on an approved vet nursing course.
- Experience of delivering exceptional client care.
- Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
- Able to support Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
