The Opportunity: This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a driven individual with a passion for delivering placement activities to join a dynamic team and support the growing and diverse portfolio of Study and Work Away experiences for our students. The University of Edinburgh’s Study and Work Away Service oversees the management of Study and Work placement experiences for students and staff, working in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will focus on the delivery of placement-based dissertations and Work closely with colleagues in the School of Social and Political Science (SPS). Placement-based dissertations provide students on selected SPS MSc programmes with the opportunity to conduct 8-10 weeks of research within a range of private, public, voluntary and charitable organisations across the world, which then forms the basis of their dissertations. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a full student lifecycle experience - including sourcing and advertising placement opportunities, liaising with placement hosts and academic staff members, and providing guidance and pastoral support to students pre-departure, while on placement and on return. This post is full-time (35 hours per week) with the option of hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. Your skills and attributes for success: Knowledge and experience in the placement sector within Higher Education Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team Adept at forming effective working relationships with a diverse and growing set of stakeholders (students, University functions and organisations across multiple sectors) Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal format, with good attention to detail Ability to provide professional and compassionate support to students throughout the placement lifecycle
