Job description


Applications are invited for the post of Sub-speciality Fellow/Registrar in Gynaecological Oncology . This post is available for a period of 12 months initially with the option to extend by mutual agreement.
This RCOG approved training post is based in the Nottingham Cancer Centre within the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Nottingham City Hospital.
All applicants should have the MRCOG and will usually be a year 6 or 7 Specialty Registrar seeking dual accreditation in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Gynaecology Oncology. Possession of a relevant MD or other higher qualifications is desirable.
Treating patients in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, developing skills and expertise in the field of Gynaecological Oncology as determined by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist.
The post holder would be expected to assist in co-ordinating the MDT, Mortality and Morbidity Meetings. They would also be expected to implement decisions made at the meetings and assist in the audit of gynaecological oncology cases in the Centre.
The postholder will supervise in-patient management of oncology patients and provide support to the junior medical staff.
On-Call / Emergency Duty Rota Shift system, third on-call for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The on-call duties include general Obstetrics and Gynaecology, but the postholder would only have limited on-call duties (evening and weekends) while working on the Gynaecological Oncology Unit.

The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community based obstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetrics and gynaecology service, of which 18 are obstetric consultants, 18 gynaecologists, and 8 combined obstetrician and gynaecologists.
The hospital based services are split between the City hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre sites.
Both have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services. There is a 3 tier junior doctor 24 hour presence. Our fetal medicine centre accepts regional referrals, and is delivered across the two sites. There is a dedicated maternal medicine service, with multi professional clinics including obstetric haematology, renal, and medical.
There is a strong research presence in the department, with Nottingham contributing to, and leading, national and international clinical trials.
