Job description

Lincolnshire County Council has an exciting opportunity for two Sufficiency and Sustainability Officers to join us on a 24 month fixed term contact. This could be a secondment opportunity for an internal candidate.

In the spring budget 2023, the government announced a range of measures to support education and help parents return to work more easily, one of those was the expansion of the funded offer.  From September 2025, eligible working parents of children aged from 9 months to school age will be able to access 30 hours of funded entitlement. To ensure that the local authority meets it’s duty to ensure there is sufficient childcare, there is a need for widespread expansion of funded places across the county.   This has provided a unique opportunity to recruit two project officers on a fixed term basis to join our early years and childcare team.

Sufficiency and Sustainability Officer

The role:

Your role will involve working collaboratively with childcare providers, schools and local communities to expand places in areas of need.  Your knowledge and experience of delivering high quality childcare provision will be intrinsic to the advice and guidance that you provide.  You will be the eyes and ears for the sufficiency team, gathering intelligence on local sufficiency needs that compliments the data.  In addition, where providers are tenants of LCC, you will support providers in ensuring security of tenure, by conducting affordability checks and rent reviews.  The post is subject to hybrid working conditions and travel throughout the county will be essential.

Please note this role could become permanent.

About the team:

You will be joining the team at an exciting time with the expansion and growth of the childcare sector.  The team is responsible for ensuring there is sufficient and sustainable childcare across the county and is a pivotal cog in the larger wheel that is the Early Years and Childcare (EYCC) team. The early years team is a dynamic team with diverse experience across the childcare and education sector.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of delivering quality and sustainable childcare provision
  • An understanding and ability to work with and interpret data
  • An ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Excellent  communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proactive attitude with the skills to self manage workload

About Our Offer:

Along with a competitive salary we are offering:

  • A Contributory pension
  • Comprehensive benefits package including excellent discount schemes and cycle to work
  • Flexible working policies
  • Career progression opportunities
  • A generous annual leave entitlement plus the option to buy more
