Job Title: Accommodation Assistant- Destiny Student, Edinburgh

Contract: Temporary (Summer Period)
Live-in accommodation available
Working hours: 24 hour reception, made up of reception & housekeeping shifts

Contract: Fixed Term Casual Contract c. 20-40 hours per week.

Expected Start Date: 2nd June 2024

Expected End Date: 5th September 2024

Destiny Student specializes in offering summer tourist accommodation in student buildings across the UK and Ireland. We are recognized for maintaining high standards throughout our business operations. Our commitment revolves around providing value-for-money accommodation and friendly service to our customers. During the three months of summer, we transform purpose built student accommodations into a pop-up hotel/hostel service, hosting tens of thousands of guests. Our dedication extends to providing onsite training and ensuring our staff gain valuable hands-on experience.

Responsibilities:

As an Accommodation Assistant, your role encompassess a range of responsbilities vital for a seamless operation of your assigned building and to guarantee an exceptional experience for our guests. Key responsibilities include:
1. Reception & Administrative Tasks: Welcoming and looking after our guests during their stay with us, while also managing various administrative tasks to ensure a seamless experience.

2. Customer Service Excellence: Upholding and enhancing our reputation for exceptional customer service when checking guests in and out of the accommodation.
3. Reservation Handling: Processing payment transactions and ensuring a smooth payment process.
4. Guest Relations: Handling guest inquiries, resolving issues, and actively seeking opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction.

5. Sales: Promoting and offering tours and products to make sure our guests have as amazing a time as possible.

6. Logging & Reporting: Accurately completing all required reports, including handovers, maintenance, guest interactions, lost property, and other relevant documentation.

7. Housekeeping: Shift duties encompass precisely managing linen deliveries, making and stripping beds, supporting the team in cleaning rooms and bathrooms, as well as assisting in the cleaning of common areas and kitchens. Collaboratively, the team ensures all guest departures are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for upcoming arrivals. You will also need to report for housekeeping to respond to any guest complaints after HK hours.

8. Building Setup & Breakdown Management: Assist with the setup and dismantling of the building for customer arrivals and departures.

9. Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to health and safety regulations and maintaining a secure environment for guests and other staff.

Requirements:

• This role demands strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• We seek individuals with a friendly demeanor capable of building rapport with both guests and team members.
• Given the busy nature of the reception desk during peak times, we require team members who can balance efficiency and friendliness effectively.
• A friendly attitude, coupled with a strong work ethic, problem-solving resilience, great reliability, timekeeping skills, and a passion for continual improvement.
• Daily computer work is essential, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer knowledge. Adaptability to different software is expected.
• Effective communication with various stakeholders in our business is a key aspect of the role.
• Strong English language skills in speaking, reading, and writing are necessary. We welcome candidates aiming to improve their English further and value proficiency in languages such as Spanish, Italian, French, German, Cantonese, among others.
• Above all, we are seeking individuals with the right attitude, as we believe essential skills can be taught and developed on the job.

Schedule:

• Shift Work: Your work schedule will be provided to you by your manager at least a week in advance. You may be required to work a variety of shift times as needed including night shifts.
• Weekend Availability: As part of our operational needs, we require candidates with availability during weekends. This ensures coverage and contributes to the smooth functioning of our operations. Your flexibility is appreciated in maintaining the quality of service we provide throughout the week, including weekends.
