Job Summary:
The Superintendent Mammographer will be the sole leader in our Breast Department at King Edward VII Hospital. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of breast imaging services, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, maintain the quality of services, and provide exceptional patient care. Your leadership will be pivotal in implementing and promoting breast cancer screening programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sole Leadership:
- Manage all aspects of the Breast Department
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to your colleague.
- Encourage a collaborative and positive work environment to ensure the highest level of patient care and staff satisfaction.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of breast imaging equipment.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.
- Review and evaluate breast imaging to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Patient Care:
- Perform breast imaging examinations and provide compassionate care to patients.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer their questions, and address concerns.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay current with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to breast imaging services, including FDA and ACR requirements.
- Ensure that the Breast Department operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Equipment and Resource Management:
- Manage inventory and supplies related to breast imaging services.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of breast imaging equipment.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and improvements as needed.
- Breast Cancer Screening Programs:
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and promote breast cancer screening programs.
- Educate the community about the importance of breast imaging in early detection.
- Participate in outreach and educational initiatives.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate patient records and department documentation.
- Prepare and submit reports on department performance and quality assurance measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Certification in Mammography.
- HCPC Registration
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in breast imaging, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality assurance in breast imaging.
- Commitment to patient care and safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a small department setting.
