As part of the role, you will study towards the level 3 Certificate in Financial Services (CF1 & LP2) You will have the opportunity to progress onto your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning if you wish to do so. If this is not suitable for you, a discussion around other relevant qualifications can take place once you have been onboarded.

What you’ll be doing:

As an apprentice in Supervision & Risk, you will work in a small team of 7-8 people, who work within the national Field Risk team, made up of over 100 individuals. The Field Risk team help support the Partnership to improve their knowledge and business practices to manage their business risk and ensure positive client outcomes. They also look to identify Partner risks through a programme of engaging Partner oversight activities and implement pro-active controls to ensure that there is appropriate oversight of the Partnership.

This apprenticeship will be an opportunity to learn about what our business does and how we work with the Regulator. You will also learn about how the regulatory rules are applied within St. James’s Place. In this role, you will develop relationships with other colleagues within the Supervision and Risk team, as well as other departments across the Field Management team and our head office in Cirencester.

The team have previously had a number of apprentices who have gone on to be successful, valued members of the Supervision & Risk team.

In this role, you will provide admin support on various tasks when required to the Field Risk Team and also provide risk oversight of corporate management information (MI). You will highlight any concerns / anomalies from a risk perspective to the Field Risk / Management Team to support in the overall management of Field Risk and you will also assist with Root Cause analysis reviews.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver regularly scheduled reports from data for Field Risk management.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for reports from Field Risk management and external departments.
  • Complete general administration tasks as required for example supporting the Field Risk Team in their preparation for Partner Compliance Visits; Partner Financial Reviews and Field Risk Themes Reviews etc.
  • To assist and support when appropriate the Location Field Risk Team on Partner investigations, including review of specific data and conducting client file checks.
  • Actively liaise with the Partnership for outstanding documentation within set time limits.
  • Conduct desk-based review and analysis of various forms of corporate data and feedback relevant findings to the Field Risk / Management Team.
  • Maintain various department spreadsheets

Who we’re looking for:

If you are interested in the Risk Apprentice role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics and have strengths in analytical skills, as well as data manipulation.

You should also have an interest in technology and future developments and how technology is used within financial services.

This role will require a strong administrative mindset that can be applied to and someone who is interested in Business Risk and 'keeping the company safe' and ensuring the right outcomes for our clients.

Other skills required to be successful:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Be able to interpret data
  • Great team player
  • Can-do attitude, with the willingness to learn continuously.

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a full UK drivers license due to the nature of the travel required.
