This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy.

As the Supplier Quality Engineer, you will support the new LIBRTI Programme, a £200m endeavour in fusion fuel capability development for the UK.

You will play a pivotal role in developing, establishing & embedding the Supplier Quality assurance processes within the UKAEA management system, managing the Quality Assurance of procured components throughout the complete product development cycle from nomination stage to delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Managing the inspection/witnessing & audit visit programme, working close with suppliers (based in both the UK and internationally) to ensure quality requirements are met
- Working with suppliers to develop and improve overall performance or to resolve quality concerns that arise promptly and efficiently to prevent compromising quality and safety standards
- Following the UKAEA Technical control system to ensure all changes are managed effectively
- Supporting the UKAEA process for identification and control of non-conformances
- Developing and monitoring quality performance metrics, including reporting to the appropriate meeting
- Encouraging and promoting operating in a continuous improvement environment
- Cross-functional working with Procurement, Engineering, and Programme Management on supplier selection

Please be aware that travelling to external partners will be required.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

- A degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
- Engineering project quality experience in a similar highly regulated industry.
- Knowledge and experience of ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO45001 based management systems.
- Ability to scrutinise supplier and product development plans with a knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure mode and effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Materials & Management system documented information.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of using problem-solving tools for root cause analysis.
