In the role as our Supply Chain Ethics and Compliance Assistant, you'll bring passion and empathy for the well-being of our supply base workers. You'll work collaboratively within the Ethics & Compliance team on all areas relating to labour rights and human rights in Seasalt's global Supply Chain, and champion Seasalt's commitment to being a socially responsible company.

This role is offered as a full-time, permanent position based in our Head Office in Falmouth. In our blended approach to hybrid working, we expect our people to work a minimum of 40% of their week from our Falmouth office, the remaining 60% of the time will be from home (or your chosen location - however, you must be based in the UK)'.

You'll help us by:

Supplier Management

Working closely with Seasalt product manufacturers on third-party independent audit reviews and follow up on closure of compliance issues. Assisting in risk assessing the supply base and help to foresee future weaknesses / needs and suggest possible solutions and best practise. Assist with updates to the Supplier Manual to ensure all sections relevant to Ethics and Compliance are up to date.

Assisting with new sourcing countries reviews, looking at sector and human rights risk using SEDEX RADAR tool and other global indices. Supplier's SEDEX membership renewal, Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) completion; data capture and reporting. Assisting with annual Supplier Appraisals.

Assisting with reactive work, for example, global crises management or non-compliance to Seasalt supplier policies and all escalatory issues. Researching and creating of quarterly board report showing current global issues affecting Seasalt sourcing countries

Supply Chain Mapping

Working collaboratively within the team to deliver on Supply Chain mapping, data capture, reporting and risk assessment. Initiating and follow up annual Supply Chain data request communications with all suppliers, maintain records of all Supply Chain mapping data.

ETI Member Progression

Building knowledge and understanding of the ETI membership progression framework and assist with all workstreams in alignment with ETI Base Code

Build knowledge and understanding of the ETI Corporate Transparency Framework and assist with annual report updates to meet the framework requirements and understanding of Seasalt ETI membership and the ETI member charter. Joining the ETI community and represent the brand at ETI member meetings, webinars and workshops with the Ethics & Compliance team.

Administration

Build solid and friendly relationships with suppliers and communicate in a clear, consistent, and professional manner. Assisting with updating quarterly report for Seasalt leadership steering committee on Tier 1 supplier status and Supply Chain mapping progress

Assist with organisation of meetings and events, including preparing presentation materials and internal communications contributing to the efficient running of the department.

Research and knowledge

Using departmental discussions to further learn about ethical trade and the work of the Ethics and Compliance Team in relationship to other areas of the business, building knowledge and understanding of the different locations of Seasalt product manufacture and the labour rights issues and human rights.

You'll grow to understand the work of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), a tripartite organisation of company members, NGO's and Trade Unions and ETI Base Code labour right clauses, United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP's) and International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions.

Keeping ahead of campaigns, media stories and industry reports and raise awareness of articles of concern to the Technical Ethics and Compliance Manager. Assisting research of 3rd party affiliations & memberships in relation to ethical trade.

Building an understanding of global societal and political issues and any legislation affecting the industry.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • An understanding of overseas garment manufacture and its complexities and the challenges facing the industry ethically.
  • The ability to use all usual Microsoft Office programs efficiently, including knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent data management and administration skills, with the ability to research and collate data and information for accurate reporting
  • The ability to write emails of a standard suitable to release to internal teams including Head of and Director of Departments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an understanding of communication with overseas suppliers
  • Passion for Supply Chain compliance and ethics with strong social conscience
  • A love for being part of a high performing team, with a passion for learning, sharing ideas, researching, and investigating
  • Self-motivated with a drive to work effectively independently with minimal supervision when needed
  • Can maintain highly confidential company business
