Major Recruitment are working in partnership with Polytec, a leading automotive manufacturer, to recruit a Supply Chain Materials Schedulerto play a key role in the Supply Chain department at their site based in Telford.
As a Supply Chain Materials Scheduler, you will be responsible for maintaining supplier schedules & processing requisitions where required. Using SAP or other data to maintain stock to an agreed level. Expediting shortages or escalating supplier issues to the purchasing team where appropriate. Transacting import/export documentation where required.
Key Responsibilities of a Supply Chain Materials Scheduler:
- Receipt and action internal planning and forecast data.
- Scheduling raw materials for production use.
- General consumable purchase, including maintaining stock levels and usage reporting.
- To liaise with other members of the Planning, Logistics and Operations to help formulate and a weekly production plan for all production areas, considering all material availability, capacity, constraints and stock holdings.
- To be always aware of general production and technical constraints.
- To maintain accurate SAP records for all schedule requirements.
- To promote & improve the usage of the SAP System wherever applicable.
- To monitor specific raw material and bought out part levels against customer requirements and predetermined inventory policies, with the aim of keeping the overall stock value to a minimum, but at the same time, ensuring sufficient stock is always available to meet all production demands.
- To maintain an accurate, logical, and comprehensive filing system for all correspondence and additional data.
- To be aware of all other activities currently being progressed within the department and to be in a position to cover the responsibilities of your colleagues in their absence if required.
Skills required to be a successful Supply Chain Materials Scheduler:
- A Supply Chain or Purchasing qualification (CIPS, SC)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Excellent operational knowledge of ERP systems - detailed SAP material control experience advantageous
- Experience in complex commodities and MRP input for planning production of materials.
- Excellent commercial and financial awareness
- Automotive sector desirable but willing to review candidates with a Manufacturing or Plastics background.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced excel skills.
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to work flexibly for the needs of the business.
