I am currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Project Engineer position with a leading national retailer based within their Nuneaton Head office with a mix of home / remote working. Are you a dynamic and ambitious Project Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge technology and a drive to revolutionize the world of Supply Chain systems? Sitting within the Supply Chain Management team, this role is key in implementing a Supply Chain project rolling out the automation of the distribution centre & network.
Typical responsibilities of the role will include:
- As a Supply Chain Automation Project Engineer, you will be the driving force behind the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced automation solutions.
- Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept development to implementation and ongoing project support.
- Integrate state-of-the-art technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and IoT to optimize Supply Chain processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand specific department requirements and design tailored automation solutions accordingly.
- Conduct technical design reviews at various stages of the project lifecycle.
- Interpret physical automation layouts to inform the Real Estate team regarding space requirements, including technical specifics of building height and cubic utilisation.
- Participation in purchasing activities, specification, tender evaluation, and supplier selection in conjunction with procurement and management representative.
- Read, review, interpret and amend 2D drawings on AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Co-ordination and integration of designs for automated machinery, infrastructures, fire protection and building services to ensure the highest level of quality.
- Assisting with completion of the site acceptance testing
- Ensuring a smooth hand-over to site operations team once project complete
The ideal candidate will be / have:
- Previous Project / Analyst experience within Retail, FMCG, Supply Chain Automation
- Degree in Engineering / Project Management or equivalent
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain processes & project implementation
- A logical and efficient work ethic with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in liaising at various levels within the business.
- Strong IT skills especially MS Office, Excel
- Detailed oriented with a quizzical brain.
- Understanding of automated modelling and storage systems i.e. (Cranes, Conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, Shuttles, Robotics, WMS, etc.).
- Comfortable working in fast paced Retail / Supply Chain environments
