Job description

The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) is a 2-19 generic special school with 430 pupils on roll. All our pupils have special learning needs and some have physical/ medical difficulties. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service including a moving and handling service, as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.

An opportunity has arisen for Lunchtime Supervisory Assistants to join our bank of casual supply staff to work at our John Jamieson site.

The main duties will be:

  • To attend to the pupil’s personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, physical, hygiene, first aid, toileting and feeding as required.
  • To supervise and support pupils during the lunch break ensuring their safety.
  • To establish good working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in playground activities.
  • To encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Hardworking and adaptable.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults as well as an ability to work constructively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of lunchtime staffing roles and responsibilities.

A thorough induction process is in place.
