There are currently vacancies for Relief Residential Child Care Workers in Brucefield Children's Residential Service. The residential children's service in Stirling is committed to providing a safe, stable and nurturing home setting for looked after children. We are seeking Relief Residential Childcare Workers to supplement our existing care team by covering shift at short notice or planned in advance.You will be committed to maintaining a positive and safe environment for children and young people and to work collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies.
Applicants should be willing to work across the shift patterns which include day shift, twilight and night shift.
You should hold an SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7 plus HNC Social Services (or an award of certificated knowledge with 96 credits at or above SCQF level 7) or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Worker in a Residential Child Care Service.
Full UK driving licence required.
Applicants must be registered with the SSSC (Residential Child Care) at appointment. In return, you will be provided with regular supervision and training opportunities to enhance your existing skills.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children. The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children. Job Description
Main Duties
- To provide high quality care to children and young people residing at Brucefield Residential Service or transitioning on.
- Help provide and maintain a warm, safe, loving home for our young people.
- To participate in the formulation of care plans and risk assessments.
- Work in a positive and respectful way with all young people to promote positive relationships and encourage their achievements.
- To provide a key working role with young people and support them to be the best they can be.
- Promote a corporate parenting approach.
- Maintain all records and reports that are required within Brucefield and ensure professional communication with the care team and partner agencies.
- Attend meetings to support and advocate for the young people, ensuring their voice is heard.
- Work and communicate as part of a team.
Professional Registration
Registration with the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) is critical for the role. If you are not already registered, you are required to submit your online application within 6 weeks of employment.
Registration with Protecting Vulnerable People Group (PVG) is also required.
