Due to increase demand, Axcis are looking for teachers to take on casual supply teaching across Bristol and wider area. It can be on a full time or part time basis, you can flex up, flex down, make it based on your needs at any given time. Work available can be in either primary or secondary schools, or perhaps you would be interested in seeing what a special school is like? You can mix and match depending on your preferences. You will need to have UK QTS and a enhanced DBS on the update service. What skills make a good supply teacher? - Strong foundation on the national curriculum, after all you will need to be confident extending or coming up with lesson plans should nothing be prepared for you or you the plans have been burned through quicker than anticipated. - Good behaviour management, much of supply teaching you could say is crowd control. Students will push boundaries, so the aim to get them to engage with lessons as best as possible. - Make good use of support staff but respect what they know about the students, use their knowledge to your advantage. - Be flexible to the needs of the school, plans can change through the course of the day. - Be happy to mark any books at the end of day, this is especially important for primary schools.
