Job description

Looking for a career with that feel good factor where you can make a huge difference? If you have a love for movies then this could be the opportunity for you!
We're now on the lookout for a patient, kind and motivating *male colleague who is passionate about making a difference to join our amazing #TeamNLSLDrmpellier as a Peripatetic Support Practitioner on a permanent basis. We have a 36 hour contract available but will consider a smaller contract for the right person.
You don't need experience in care as a Support worker or qualifications to start your career with us, we recruit on values and transferrable skills. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the practical skills that you'll need. We'll even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification and yearly SSSC registration fees too!
The Role
Based in Wishaw, you will be joining a small friendly team who provide support to a man who lives in his own home on a 1:1 basis. The person we support has his own car and enjoys going out for drives, so for this role it is essential that you hold a full UK, manual driving licence. The Person we support has many talents but needs someone to inspire and encourage him to get involved, he is a complete movie buff and loves nothing more than kicking back with a new film or playing his video games. He's a big fan of Robbie Williams and will dance along to his songs.
As a Support Practitioner, you will provide personalised, flexible support based upon the assessed needs of each individual. With a focus on reducing social isolation, maintaining and promoting independence, you will enable the people we support to live as independently as possible and to play an active role within their local communities. This role will also include supporting with hobbies, meal planning, cooking, housework, support to appointments, personal care and medication.
What we need you to bring;

  • Good communication skills
  • A caring attitude and approach
  • A positive approach to learning
  • Confidence in the use of computers
Shift Patterns
We provide flexible, customer-led services that run 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will include day shifts and sleepovers. Weekends and public holidays will be on a rotational basis.
Sound interesting? What are you waiting for? Apply today, we can't wait to hear from you!
Have any questions? If you'd like to find out more, please contact David Johnston on 01236 918800.
Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
  • For this position, male is an Occupational Requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.

Cornerstone welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively seeks to increase the diversity of our workforce.
