Job Purpose: Our aim is to provide a safe, caring and homely environment in which people can flourish as individuals and therefore be supported to lead an independent and fulfilling life. Your role will be varied and will include assisting service users with their health & wellbeing, domestic tasks, personal care, employment opportunities and leisure interests etc.
Key Responsibilities
Care:
Facilitate and support Service Users in decision making, promoting choice and involvement giving full regard to initiatives aimed at Service User empowerment.
Act as keyworker (named person) to an individual Service User taking on responsibility for specified areas of care and support.
Support Service Users participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local community in line with ordinary life principles.
Support Service Users to access activities of their choice within the home and community.
Interact and participate with the Service Users in the development of their independent living skills.
Once trained, administer medication in accordance with the homes policies and procedures, and ensure that medical arrangements are dealt with appropriately.
Record information about Service Users and ensure effective communication with all staff members.
Provide care and support as identified in care reviews and care plans, as directed by senior staff members.
Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring that service users are treated with respect and dignity at all time.
Communication:
To ensure that positive interactions (verbal and non-verbal) are consistent, and person centred.
To ensure that daily logs and service user files are completed and regularly updated.
To promote positive relationships with service users, their family, carers and the wider professional team.
Training & Development:
Maintain professional knowledge and competence through in house and outsourced training.
Health & Safety:
Ensure that all health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
Ensure that any health and safety concerns are immediately forwarded to the Manager.
Promote safe working practice within the Home.
General:
Work as part of a team to ensure that service users benefit from a positive and proactive staff group.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
