Our client, The A.E.D.A. Alliance (Advocates of Empowerment, Development and Achievement) is an innovative company providing care sector-focused services. Their programmes aim at ensuring quality of life for children and young people in social care.
They are made up of a network of professionals with a wealth of experience in the care social industry, this includes independent social work practitioners, care owners and managers, therapists, teachers and senior residential staff.
They are looking for experienced, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to help support young people aged 16-25 in various settings in and around London and Peterborough in Residential semi-independent living.
The position involves supporting Young People daily and helping them acquire
independent living skills. Support workers must offer a range of support, including informal counselling, emotional support, advice, education and training, practical skills training, developing complementary networks and helping the service user address their cultural identity.
As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include :
Working as part of a team and providing a supportive and stimulating environment that provides care and nurturing to the young people living in the unit.
Safeguarding and promoting the physical and emotional well-being of the young people in the unit.
Collaborating with co-workers and professionals to help assess the needs of the young people that have been referred/placed by Local Authorities, to support the care package.
Building up local networks and knowledge of local resources, through other youth and complementary projects, leisure services etc.
Supporting in attending appointments, assisting with accessing social activities and establishing hobbies to help the young person integrate with society.
Being a role model for young people through reflective, consistent, and non-judgemental care while setting appropriate boundaries.
Advocating for the young people, promoting their rights and for their voices to be heard; communicating effectively with them and ensuring that they are appropriately involved where possible in the decisions about their support and care plans.
Assisting in the provision of a stable and nurturing environment to promote and safeguard the young people’s welfare, and promote their health and development, considering their culture, race, region, disability, gender, and sexual orientation.
Providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure that young people are protected and their welfare promoted.
Recording and writing reports regarding all work undertaken with the Young Person.
Carry out Key-worker responsibilities and tasks with individual young people, and where necessary with their families.

As the successful candidate, You should have a:
Minimum NVQ Level 3 Children and Young People or Residential Care or willingness to work towards it
Current Enhanced DBS registered or on the update service
Preferred Skill
1+ years of experience working in the Care Sector
Knowledge of the 5 Accomplishments
Knowledge and understanding of the needs of young people from different backgrounds, those with learning disabilities, mental health, and challenging needs
Knowledge and understanding of the Children Act 1989, the revised
Children’s Home Regulations 2015, and the Quality Care Standards
Awareness and understanding of the issues relating to sexuality, sexual abuse, CCE, CSE and child protection.
Prevention and Management of Violence & Aggression Training
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Training
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-Motivation

Salary: £13 - 15 per hour, depending on current qualifications and experience
Pay has scope for advancement, subject to any training completed in post. Training is provided and paid for by them.
