Job Duties:
- Provide direct support and care to children in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Assist children with daily activities, including personal hygiene, meals, and recreational activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Implement and follow individual care plans for each child.
- Monitor and report any changes in a child's physical or emotional condition.
- Collaborate with other Support workers and professionals to create a positive and nurturing environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individual support plans.
- Support children in developing life skills and promoting independence.
- Administer medication to children as prescribed and maintain accurate records.
- Document observations, incidents, and any significant interactions related to the children's well-being.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid and up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
- Minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Good understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and other professionals.
- Excellent listening and observational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Prior experience working with children in a social care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and understanding of the impact of trauma.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in challenging situations.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
- Understanding of diversity and inclusivity in service provision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Additional training or certifications in child safeguarding or related areas.
- Experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in social care.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves working directly with children in a residential or community-based setting.
- Shift work is required, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- The job may involve physical activities such as bending, lifting, and assisting with personal care tasks.
