Support Worker

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 1BY
Salary: Up to £24,960 per annum pro rata, £12 ph (based on 40 hours per week) plus excellent benefits
Contract: Part time, Permanent
Hours: 16 hours per week

Support Worker / Lifestyle Co-ordinator - About the role:

We are looking for new Support Workers to join out established team in Barrow-in-Furness who provide care and support to Adults with Learning Disabilities.

You need to be a good communicator, be compassionate, understanding and non-judgemental. Your customers will need support in setting and achieving their own personal goals and expect the staff who support them to be encouraging, enabling and promoting life skills.

Our teams are forward thinking and have a positive outlook to life. Your customers will look to you for motivation, guidance and direction, they want to be the given the opportunity to live a full and rewarding life.

When asked what they wanted from the staff who support them the Customers requested that you have a sense of fun and that you will need to be involved in many aspects of the Customers daily lives including maintaining relationships, forging new friendships and encouraging confidence and self-belief.

You will be required to support customers to access the local community and to try new experiences. Some of the Customers enjoy activities such as swimming and walking but there is so much more they would like to do and you can help to make their lives exciting and varied. Support will also be required for each person in areas such as health, budgeting and domestic tasks.

Sleep in shifts and some weekend working will be included in your rota.

Support Worker - What we need from you:

You do not need to have experience, but it is essential that you share our values. As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Oaklea, T&Cs apply)
