Support Worker for Young Person
30 hours dayshift plus 1 night shift/week

mix of weekdays and weekend
£ 11.80- £13/hr
An exciting opportunity is available for the role of Senior Support worker, caring for a 19 year old young man.
The ideal candidate will have experience in caring for young people or adults with disabilities. The role is best suited to someone who is energetic, has a good sense of humour, and a professional and responsible work ethic.
The candidate must have an interest in assisting the client to develop their life skills and therapy goals, whilst promoting their independence, within the home and community.
It is important that the candidate is willing to participate in activities that the client enjoys, and has a clean driving licence.
The Client
The client is anoutgoing 19 year old Male, who is a wheelchair user, and communicates using an eye gaze.
The Client lives with his family in Saxmundham. He is dependent on his Support workers to promote his safety and assistwith the activities of daily living.
Social and recreational pursuits are an important elementof the client's care, as he enjoys socialising with friends, going to concerts and attending social clubs.
The Role
The role of the candidate will be, both to provide direct two-to-one care for the client in the home and community, and 1:1 care at night as an oncall sleep in shift.
The successful candidate will be friendly, professional and a team player, with a passion to provide high quality care.
The candidate will work alongside anotherSupport worker to deliver the following care to the client: personal care, medication administration, and meeting manual handling needs.
There must be a commitment to build an appropriate friendship and rapport with the client, promote privacy and dignity and provide a high standard of therapeutic support in line with the relevant care plan’s and guidance.
The candidate must have a clean driving licence, andbe willing to drive the client’s vehicle to attend concerts, and other recreational activities with the client.
Full training, support and guidance will be provided from the Case manager who will oversee the Care Team.
Essential skills required
Must have experience working with young people/ adults with additional health and physical needs.
Must be reliable, punctual, professional and friendly.
Must have excellent communication skills, a caring approach, with good initiative and problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
Must be fluent in English - both written and verbal.
Must have a Clean driving licence
Must have a satisfactory DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable skills required
Working with young people/ adults who use an eye gaze for communication.
Experience in the safe use of Manual handling equipment.
Flexibility to occasionally adjust or increase hours in accordance with the client and family’s needs.
