Job purpose

This position is to provide 1:1 support to a friendly, sociable 16-year-old girl with Bainbridge Ropers Syndrome and Sensory Processing Disorder in the Maghull area of Sefton. I have a fun, loving personality with a fabulous smile and love dancing and listening to all kinds of music. I like to keep busy and go out to different places particularly if it involves eating ice cream. I enjoy all kinds of sensory activities particularly feeling the wind in my face, flashing lights, noise and chewing things.

I communicate by facial expression or vocalisation, and I will point and gesture to things which you will understand as you get to know me.

I am looking for a kind caring personality who is willing to get to know my personality, support me with my personal care and daily routine and have fun supporting me in activities within my home and in the community.

Main Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support.

To spend time to get to know my lovely personality and learn how I communicate my needs.

Personal Care: feeding, drinking, changing, bathing, brushing teeth, putting me to bed and trying to tempt me out of it.

Support me to participate in activities that I enjoy and help me to discover new ones.

Support me to access the wider community and possibly explore new environments.

Help to keep me safe whilst out and about.

High levels of supervision required.

Experience and Skills required (Essential and desirable)

We are looking for a cheerful and positive individual with a friendly, empathetic, and enthusiastic attitude about caring for others.

Ideally have experience of supporting children/young people with additional needs.

Willingness to build up and develop positive relationships.

Be patient, kind and trustworthy.

Have good communication skills and the ability to be punctual and reliable.

Ability to be creative and use your own initiative.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
