Job description

We have an exciting opportunity within the Housing Options and Support service. Are you seeking a new opportunity where you can make a real difference? Would you like to take on an exciting role supporting people across the diverse area of City of York Council?

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic motivated individual to work in our friendly, supportive team assisting ex-offenders to find private rented accommodation and assist customer to maintain their tenancies.  You will have the opportunity to use your excellent communication skills and knowledge of benefits and support services to develop personalised support for the clients you work with. 

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the local private rented sector and experience of providing housing support, but experience of working in a similar field will certainly be considered.  You will need to be organised have good IT skills, and be confident communicating with people from lots of different agencies including landlords, letting agents, Police, prisons and Probation Services.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
