Job description

Would you like to work in a caring, supportive environment where you can make a real difference to people’s lives?

Role: Supported Living Care Worker for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities as part of the halow project.

Location: Our services are primarily based across Guildford and Cranleigh, but you may also be supporting at activities and venues across the Surrey area. It is desirable for our support workers to have a full driving license with access to a car, and our Support Workers can claim mileage for travel undertaken as part of their role.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week, working 5 of 7 days, with an average of 2 sleep-ins per week. This role requires flexibility to work on a rotational rota pattern covering Monday – Sunday each week across shifts patterns which include early shifts, day shifts, late shifts, sleep-ins and some weekends.

Salary: Starting at a competitive £11.41 per hour, rising to £11.95 per hour upon successful completion of your 6-month probationary period. Sleep-ins are paid at a supplementary rate of £50 per night. Based on this schedule, the on-track-earnings estimate for this role means you could be earning approximately £26,250-£27,300 a year.

Annual Leave: 30 days pro-rata, inclusive of bank holidays.

Training: Fully paid training is given including the industry recognised Care Certificate, and further development opportunities are available including Positive Behaviour Support and opportunities to study for accredited National Vocational Qualifications.

You’ll get access to great benefits including:

  • Free Blue Light Card membership
  • Retail discounts
  • Free/discounted tickets for events, gigs and shows
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Free eye tests
  • Cycle2Work scheme
  • 24-hour employee assistance program
  • Travel season ticket advances
  • Staff referral bonus scheme
  • AIG Life Assurance (Post Probation)
  • Access to AIG Smart Health App

Flexible, immediate start dates available. Apply today and we’ll be in touch by the next working day. Or get in touch by email jobs@halowproject.org.uk or phone 01483 447960 to discuss this great role.

All positions are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references. The initial cost of the DBS application will be paid for by halow.

The nature of this role means that you must be at least 18 years old and have the right to work in the UK.

Our Supported Living Care Workers are a vital part of how we nurture independence in adults aged 18+ through our highly regarded Supported Living service.

You will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our young adults and helping to plan their day-to-day lives whilst working to achieve their goals. This will involve providing encouragement and support on tasks within their own home including household chores, meal planning, shopping, preparing, and cooking nutritious meals, as well as helping them to plan and access their social life, activities, and engagements within the local community and further afield. Much like the amazing people you’ll be supporting, no two days are ever the same!

Resilience and adaptability are key as this role involves lone working either with an individual or a small group, as well as working as part of the wider Care team. Some personal care and administration of medicine may be required depending on who you are supporting, and you’ll receive full training and support for this to ensure you are fully equipped.

Professional or personal experience of care work is desirable, but we also pride ourselves on a values-based approach and the main skill we are looking for is an ambition to help others. If you are an individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities living in Surrey then we want to hear from you!
