This will be achieved in a manner that provides an open, customer focussed service, while achieving a high level of performance. The Council wishes to appoint a Building Standards Surveyor to work as part of a team of highly motivated and professional staff. The postholder will primarily be responsible for all aspects of Building Standards including the assessment of building warrants; the inspection of construction activity and the inspection and actioning enforcement in the event of dangerous and defective buildings as directed by their Team Leader.
Candidates must have a degree in a relevant building or surveying related subject together with relevant experience to meet person specification, ideally within a local authority Building Standards environment. Candidates must hold full membership of a relevant professional body i.e. R.I.C.S. or C.A.B.E. Candidates must also have a commitment to public service. A valid UK driving licence is essential and access to transport when required is desirable. The position can be based full-time in our offices in Pullar House, Perth or a hybrid working arrangement can be considered. For any hybrid arrangement, attendance in the office would be required on a weekly basis. Travel within the Perth and Kinross area will be necessary to carry out visits and attend meetings as required.
