Sustainability Consultant - BREEAM
Up to 35k (dependent on experience)

Permanent position - Hybrid Working
A leading Sustainability and Energy Consultancy based in Central Oxford are looking for a Sustainability Consultant with experience working with BREEAM and other certifications to join their team. Committed to excellence and innovation, they are seeking a passionate and motivated Sustainability Consultant to join their close-knit, friendly team.
The Company
They are a leading sustainability and energy consultancy who provide specialist support towards sustainability within the built environment. They were founded over 10 years ago by directors of a multi-disciplinary planning and engineering consultancy and have steadily grown into a well-established company. They specialise in providing end-to-end support to their real estate clients, and pride themselves on fostering a flexible, creative and fun working environment.
They bring together a range of technical disciplines to advise clients on their ESG policies, to manage their real estate portfolio and develop sustainability and energy strategies for new and existing developments. They combine this with their expert team of building service engineers and structural engineers to deliver low and net zero carbon solutions to their clients.
As part of their sustainability offering, their services include the provision of a full range of environmental and health and wellbeing assessment methods including BREEAM (including In-Use), Home Quality Mark, CEEQUAL, WELL and FitWel. They also help develop Net Zero Carbon Strategies, undertaking Whole Life Cycle Assessments and Operational Energy Assessments. One of their Directors was one of the first in the UK to become a NABERS Assessor and is currently working in the cross-industry body developing the UK's first Net Zero Carbon Building Standard.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant looking to kickstart their career and grow and develop their skills within the industry. This position will give you the opportunity to join a growing team and work on a diverse range of projects in the UK and internationally. For this role they are looking for someone with experience working with BREEAM and other certifications, and can provide further opportunities to expand into wider areas of Sustainability such as building physics, Net-Zero strategies, ESG and whole life cycle carbon assessments.
In this role you will be working closely with colleagues of various disciplines in other offices, and will help to deliver sustainability projects - developing concepts, reports and presenting to clients. You will ensure the successful delivery of innovative sustainable and low-carbon design solutions to quality standards and deadlines. You will receive continual support from more senior members of staff, along with access to their in-house training programme allowing you to continue your professional development.
This role will enable you to have an impact across a variety of sectors such as Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Retail and Residential, and ensure that over time you have the opportunity to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy.
About You
For this role you will have demonstrable experience in a sustainability consultancy role within the built environment. The successful candidate should be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills and look to develop their ongoing professional qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
- Educated to degree level in the field of sustainability and/or environmental science.
- 1-2 years' experience in a similar sustainability role (although applications from exceptional candidates with less experience will also be considered).
- Good knowledge of energy & sustainability related statutory legislation, standards, and drivers in the construction industry.
- Good knowledge of environmental assessment methods (e.g. BREEAM, WELL & Home Quality Mark).
- Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, good communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient in mathematics and English.
Preferential:
- BREEAM accredited
- Good knowledge of ESG strategies.
- Good knowledge of regulatory and dynamic simulation modelling (e.g. SAP, DesignBuilder, TAS, DesignBuilder).
- Good knowledge of Life-Cycle Assessment and its application in the built environment.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary of up to 35,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
