Role: Admin Support Assistant

Department: Professional Standards Department

Location:  Churchill Way, Sheffield

Salary: £23,121 - £24,921

Hours: 37       

Contract Type: Temporary until 31st March 2025

We have an exciting opportunity for an Admin Support Assistant to join our Professional Standards Department on a temporary basis until 31st March 2025.  The Professional Standards Department is responsible for managing complaints and investigating all recordable conduct.

As Admin Support Assistant you will:

  • Provide administrative support to the Complaints & Investigations Team, this will include typing, business support functions, secretarial and intercom/reception cover.
  • Process all correspondence to the department and decide appropriate course of action, deal with enquiries from members of the public and both internal/external stakeholders/agencies.
  • Record, monitor and finalise complaints, conduct matters and miscellaneous complaints using the Centurion database.
  • Provide secretarial support to the head of PSD, which will include electronic diary & meeting management, production of agendas, minutes, reports & letters.
  • Carry out all business support functions for the Professional Standards Department which will include ordering/finance responsibilities, co-ordinating travel/hotel arrangements.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Recent administrative experience and proven Microsoft Office/computer skills.
  • The ability to work in a small team, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to deal with sensitive information and demonstrate confidentiality.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
