Role: CJU Inputting Clerk

Department: Criminal Justice Department

Location:  Snig Hill, Sheffield

Salary: £23,121 - £24,921 (pro–rata)

Hours: 31 Hours       

Contract Type: Temporary 12 Months


We have an exciting opportunity for an Inputting Clerk to join our Criminal Justice Department team.

As a CJU Inputting Clerk you will support the file preparation process of the digital case file, to achieve the objectives of ensuring cases are progressed to The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and through the court systems.

What the role will be responsible for:

  • Interrogating, maintaining and retrieving data/information using various computer and manual recording packages.
  • Review and process Digital Files to Court and CPS.
  • Review and check quality of Files for all Postal Requisitions/SJP cases, as necessary for first Court Hearing (Guilty Anticipated Plea).
  • Identify any potential data breaches and report to the appropriate agencies/department and Supervisor.  
  • Using the Connect computer system prepare a Postal Requisition for postal service to defendants to attend South Yorkshire Magistrates Court.
  • Complete Biometrics (DNA/ Fingerprints) checks and issue letter to defendants as required.
  • Provide advice and guidance to officers regarding file content and court process.
  • Liaise with HMCTS, CPS and external agencies.
  • Update victims informing them of first court hearing.
  • General admin duties including receipt/ maintaining e-mails and receiving incoming post and distributing within CJU.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of using Microsoft packages.
  • Experience in data input and retrieval of information.
  • Experience of word processing.
  • Experience of communication by a variety of means, including telephone and keyboard skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime to meet organisational needs and work at other locations within South Yorkshire if required.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
