Job description

Role: PNC Bureau Shift Supervisor                          

Department: Crime Services

Location:  Shepcote Lane, Sheffield

Salary: £26,487 - £29,085 (plus shift allowance)                               

Hours: 37hrs per week                 

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Role Purpose:

An exciting new role has come available to supervise a team of 24/7 Operators and work in conjunction with the department management team to ensure the PNC Bureau achieves its objectives and provides an efficient service the Force and other criminal justice agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 24/7 operators, co-ordinating and re--arranging rotas to maintain sufficient cover for the department.
  • A shift working pattern is expected of this post which is week 1 – 7am x 3pm or 8am x 4pm as required, and week 2 – 2pm x 10pm. An additional allowance of 14% is applicable.
  • Support the force in achieving its objectives by ensuring appropriate checks are carried out on relevant IT systems by maintaining a full working knowledge of statutory legislation and force policy in relation to criminal record keeping and associated processes.
  • Allocate workloads and ensure responses to requests for information are expedited in line with the agreed timescales to meet local (Force) and national (Home Office) targets.
  • Direct and advise staff who are required to search and update all relevant computer systems.
  • Conduct 1st level PDR and appraisals for their team of Band B operators and identify and manage training needs as they arise.
  • Authorise leave and manage appropriate staff cover using the force duties management systems available.
  • Manage 1st line welfare issues and conduct 1st level performance and conduct issues as required.
  • Attend meetings with or on behalf of the department management team.
  • Any other duties commensurate to the grade

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Fixed: This is a traditional arrangement, applicable when the work is mostly required to be undertaken at a fixed single place of work (on police premises) for most of the time. The work can only or is more effectively delivered from a police premises or other agreed organisational/partner premises.

Field: This applies to roles that do have a base, however, due to the nature of their duties is required to travel to other locations. Due to the nature of these roles, they cannot accommodate flexible working from home on a permanent basis.

Hybrid: Applicable when the work can be undertaken at any location, whether that be a SYP building or from home.
