We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Systems Engineer for a 6 month contract. This is a home based role with some travel to sites in the UK and abroad. A Midlands (Nottinghamshire) base would be ideal but is not essential. This contract is outside IR35.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to over 1000+ end users, installing and maintaining regional IT infrastructure.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in network administration, e.g., WAN, LANs, physical and virtual Servers, virtual desktops, and supporting end-user devices such as PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and mobile devices.
You will be required to assist the team with various project-related activities, which will include travel and working outside of core office hours.
Key Requirements:
- Practical Hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator or Technician or similar role
- Good technical understanding of public and private cloud
- In-depth knowledge of hardware, software, and systems integration
- Strong understanding of fundamental networking technologies (switching, routing, VPNs, etc)
- Familiarity with various operating systems and software applications
- Extensive experience working with multi-site and hybrid Active Directory environments, group policy, and DNS.
- End-User Device Management, OS Deployment & Troubleshooting, and Hardware Troubleshooting
- Microsoft 365 User Administration (including Intune, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive)
- Demonstratable management of physical and virtual servers (deployment, backups, patching, decommissioning, etc)
- Awareness of Security, Infrastructure, and Development Governance.
This person will contribute to the following:
- Supporting Acquisitional migrations, from discovery, planning and implementing IT standards
- Supporting a complex technical estate with an existing user base of approximately 1000+ staff in a period of growth through acquisition
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across the global network, particularly with service and data owners
- Install and maintain IT systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Assisting in integrating newly acquired businesses into the IT estate, including data migration, system setup, and end-user training.
- Responding to 1st and 2nd Line service calls through onsite and remote support and escalating to the 3rd Line Team as necessary.
- Handling incoming technical support incidents, requests, and changes as needed.
- Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency through process improvement and enhanced use of IT.
- Supporting end-user and network technologies, adhering to Service Delivery Management and Service Level Agreements.
- Ensure seamless integration of new technology with existing systems.
- Ensuring maintenance and patching of existing services to agreed levels.
- Troubleshooting technical issues and resolving them in an organized and efficient manner
- Provide training, including workshops and technical support to end users for hardware, software, and systems-related issues.
- Proactively working with vendors, working closely with the IT Heads and & Group IT Director.
