The Sperry Marine Engineering Team based in New Malden in the UK and Hamburg in Germany, have responsibility for the development and maintenance of Sperry Marine’s wide product portfolio, and ambitious development roadmap.
We are a truly multidisciplinary team, with engineers from electronics, software, mechanical, system engineering and system test backgrounds all working in integrated teams to develop best in class products and solutions.
To support our ambitious roadmap and growth plans we are actively increasing the size our teams, creating a great opportunity for a skilled System Engineer to join us!
As a Systems Engineer you will conduct Systems Engineering activities throughout the solution lifecycle for multiple engineering development projects, including the following activities:
- Systems requirements capture, analysis, acceptance and traceability
- Systems design, integration and acceptance
- Evidence gathering that the solution is compliant to customer and regulatory requirements
- Coordination of System Engineering workload, including delegation to internal or external resource where appropriate.
- Continuous improvement of solution development processes, including new process development and working practices.
- Coordination with other engineering and non-engineering functions to help solving problems as they arise
- Identification of technical risks and elaboration of mitigations in coordination with the wider engineering team, the project management and the product line management teams
- Release, review and coordination of technical documentation to quality and schedule

Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Experience of systems requirements management, definition, design, integration, acceptance and analysis
- Knowledge of System Engineering models and techniques.
- Able to use logical and creative thinking to solve problems and make decisions
- Good technical writing skills.
- Strong IT skills, specifically with MS Office products.
- Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or similar)
- In-depth knowledge of development and test lifecycles
- Industry Experience & Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience in a Systems Engineering role
- Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering / technical subject (e.g. electrical/electronic engineering or similar)
Personal Characteristics
- Self-starter, can prioritise own work and work of the wider team, and can work with a high degree of independence
- Requires minimum supervision and thrives working in a multidisciplinary team
- Thorough and analytical
- Able to deal with internal and external stakeholders in a professional way, both in person, over the phone and by email
- Is a team player, and can create, develop and maintain productive working relationships
- Security clearance and right to work in the UK required
