Job summary

We are looking for a well organised and efficient Storekeeper to fill the role of Systems Engineering Troop (SET) Storekeeper. Working as part of a small team, the postholder will manage the receipt and issue of equipment within the department. SET is part of Blandford Garrison Support Unit (BGSU), a mixed workforce of military and civilian staff. Its primary function is to provide facilities and support services to designated personnel within Blandford Garrison in order to meet the training and operational requirement. This support includes: Welfare, Administration, Security, Engineering, Logistics and Facilities Management. We are a close knit, inclusive team and pride ourselves on being an enjoyable place to work. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Job description

You will receive, process and issue equipment which requires repair, replacement or re-calibration. Using customised computer systems, you will ensure that equipment is processed, demanded and exchanged with efficiency and in accordance with policy. You will support team members by assisting with the Single Point of Contact fault reporting process, maintaining clear records and assigning technical issues to colleagues. You will also be trained in Portable Appliance Testing to ensure that all departmental equipment is safe to use. This post is not suitable for remote working.

Person specification

This post requires a motivated individual with experience of delivering customer service. You will have effective verbal communication skills, and be able to manage your own workload. Full training will be given but you should feel confident operating IT systems. Knowledge and experience of working in a stores and / or military environment may be advantageous.
