We are Usay Compare, the UK s largest Private Medical Insurance Intermediary. Originating in 2008, we now have circa 330 employees and 5 office locations in Cirencester, Bristol, Bournemouth, Taunton London and a home-based team!

We are looking for a passionate 1st/2nd Line Systems Support Desktop and Server Engineer to join our team in Bournemouth on a full-time, permanent basis!

This is a very hands-on, fast paced role that will require you to support the Systems Support Engineer by maintaining, upgrading, and implementing all IT infrastructure needs ensuring all departments within the Company are fully functional and protected.

Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri: 8am 4:30pm

The role:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for end users on a mixed estate comprising of Azure, Windows and GCP.
  • Resolving tickets raised by end users associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc.
  • Performing regular compliance tasks and checks.
  • Installation of new software and hardware.
  • User account creation and set up of end user IT equipment.
  • Ensure regular backups of systems are taken successfully and verifying integrity of backup data.
  • Management and administration of anti-spam and anti-virus systems.
  • Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance.
  • Liaise with third party suppliers such as Internet Service Providers and vendors.
  • Procuring end user, network and server hardware, peripherals, software & support.
  • Willingness to work out of hours/overtime when required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous experience working within a FCA regulated role preferred.
  • Excellent Networking and infrastructure skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including questioning and listening at all times.
  • Demonstrate confident and effective telephone skills.
  • Excellent communicator across all levels

Previous experience of the following technologies and practices would be desirable:

  • Windows Server 2008/2012 /Azure Server administration.
  • Project Management.
  • 365 administration including Exchange 365.
  • Azure administration.
  • SharePoint administration.
  • Knowledge of Sophos / Windows Defender.
  • Active Directory management including Group Policies and Entra ID.
  • Familiarity with MFA and Radius Server authentication.
  • Familiarity with Cisco router technologies.
  • Familiarity with Sonicwall Firewalls.
  • Familiarity with VOIP telephony.
