The Role:
Targeted Youth Workers (TYW) will carry out assessments with children and families, devise plans of intervention, undertake direct work.
TYWs can make a real difference to the young people they support. Their work seeks to promote young people's personal and social development and enable them to have a voice. It offers young people safe spaces to explore their identity, experience decision-making, and increase their confidence.
TYWs work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to support vulnerable young people and their families at times of increased need and difficulty. We take a relational and strengths-based approach. TYW will have a caseload of young people they completed direct 1-2-1 work with, but also offer drop-in sessions at School for any young person that wishes to speak to a Youth Worker. Youth Workers also deliver group work around a theme or issue and they will deliver on parenting programmes for parents of teenagers. You will need to have proven track record of working with young people as well as a robust understanding of the challenges young people face.

Targeted Youth Workers are expected to hold a JNC Youth Work qualification (or be on the pathway to achieving this) or a Secondary Teaching qualification (with some experience of working informally with young people).
